Adam is a playable Robot in the games Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention and its remake Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, and takes Nova's role as the adviser character in Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict.

Background[]

When Dark Dragon was first sealed away, several ancient robots based on Adam's design were created to help the heroes of Light should Dark Dragon ever awaken. However, when Darksol attacks, all of these robots are scrapped, with only Adam surviving the attack, after which Darksol proceeded to reprogram their overseeing unit Chaos into destroying the heroes instead.

Personality[]

Adam is an honorable robot whose leader is Chaos. He holds a deep respect for Chaos, Max, and his family who created him. He joins Max at the beginning of the battle with Chaos.

Strategy[]

He can become quite strong and a main frontline fighter if trained.

His defence stat can become the second highest in the game, second only to Guntz. Essentially this makes him a tank and he can take anything, though as a robot is weak to spells. His damage is also often better then Guntz and he becomes one of the strongest frontline members.

Adam is the last of the late-game members to join, and is quite weak. His low-level makes raising him difficult and it is very easy to shelve him since there are already better fighters in the Shining Force at this point. To make things harder, Adam cannot equip a weapon, making raising him more difficult as like other unarmed fighters so the player who wishes to raise him has to put him on the battlefield. Even in the first potential fight he can be in, he doesn't do enough damage and it is a struggle to raise his levels.

His weakness means that speed-run players will have to opt to just leave him out of battle as he is most suitable for patient players. However, the spell "Attack" learnt by Tao and Domingo can help raise his offensive to deal more damage.

Leveling Adam[]

Adam is severely underleveled when he joins.

One thing you can do is give him items like the Evil Ring or Heat Axe that let him cast magic. You should make sure to avoid metallic enemies, as Adam will have a much harder time against them. As above, timely casts of Attack will also help him dish out damage, which helps him gain levels.

The GBA remake adds Mawlock and his cards, which makes leveling him much simpler. The most obvious tactic is using Mawlock's Move with Adam's card to give Adam two turns every round. Another is to use the effects of Adam's or Chaos's card on Adam, which will allow him to attack with the enemy's attack stat instead of his own. Cards like Hans, Diane or Lyle can increase Adam's attack range, too.

Powers & Magic[]

In Shining Force:

- Adam has a chance of occasionally firing a Laser at the enemy.

In Shining Force EXA:

- He can launch cannon at the enemy

- He can charge by rolling his body(In Shining Force EXA game, his body is round)to the enemy

Quotes[]

  • At the beginning of the battle with Dark Dragon: "Lord, Max, the time has finally come. Even if my body is reduced to scrap metal, I will see my mission through to its end."
