Musashi, sometimes mistranslated as "Rush", is a hidden playable Samurai in the games Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention and Shining Force Gaiden II, as well as their respective remakes.

Background[]

Personality[]

Musashi strictly adheres to the samurai code of honor and justice.

Strategy[]

Getting Musashi to Join[]

In Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya and Shining Force CD, search the statues at the entrance to the room in Battle 21. Musashi is hidden behind one of them.

In Shining Force: Legacy of Great Intention the player can have Max read a note on the wall of a building in Prompt with 2 entrances of the same side. The note is from Musashi stating his intention to join the Shining Force. After reading this message the player will find Musashi in the recruitment area of Headquarters.

In Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, recruiting Musashi is a bit more complicated, and he is now recruiting in Rudo. Make as though to leave the town, but hug the left wall as closely as possible. If done correctly, you will emerge into an open space outside of Rudo. Search the sign that says "The Boy'. Re-enter Rudo. Search the paper that is on the side of one of the buildings. It should say 'Fluttering'. Then, go back to Krin. On the way to her basement study, you should find five papers on the wall. Search them until one of them says "White." From there, proceed to the top floor of Rudo, where some kids are doing laundrey. Search the lone shirt on the southwest side of the balcony. It will tell you the search the Dragon Statue. Finally, do that, and Musashi will join.

Using Musashi[]

In Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya and Shining Force CD, Musashi joins with all-around solid stats, especially his Defense, and has strong growths in every stat except Agility. As a result, he ends with the highest Defense of any character in Shining Force CD, and is one of the strongest attackers as well. His only weaknesses are his weak mobility and lack of range. Keep him on the front lines, however, and that won't be a problem.

Powers & Magic[]

Musashi has no magic or special abilities.

Quotes[]

  • SF1 headquarters, not in active party: "Yawn. Sorry I must have dozed off. Did I miss anything important?"
  • Book 3 headquarters, in active party: "I've never seen such a dishonorable woman like Dava! What? Don't you know? To Samurai, honor is cherished."
  • At the beginning of the battle with Dark Dragon: "We meet at last, o purveyor of evil! Have at thee! You'll make a fine notch on my blade!"

Trivia[]

Musashi joins the force with his katana, a powerful weapon of his own that cannot be found anywhere else in the game.

Based on Hanzou’s introduction in Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, it is possible that Musashi and Hanzou knew each other before the game’s events. This relationship might be a rivalry. This possibility might also factor into why they always appear together in the same games.
